Who will defend the Chinese government and at the same time attack the Labour Party ? Step forward the Daily Mail

You can always rely on the dictators friend, the Daily Mail to seek to blame the ills of the world on either the BBC, Europe, Immigrants or "liberals". Today, when dealing with the sad events concerning the execution of Akmal Sheikh, Leo McKinstry in the Daily Scum has managed seemingly to me have a dig at liberals, the government and an immigrants lack of links to the UK all at the same time.

In a ludicrous article where he ignores China's history of murdering tens of thousands of its own population, forgets the murders of journalists and those dissidents who dare to talk about corruption in the Chinese state, turns a blind eye to the murder of thousands of students in Tianamen Square in 1990, Leo McKinstry uses such quotes as
In contrast to New Labour's policy of appeasement and surrender, the Chinese Government acts vigorously to defend its people from the misery caused by the drugs trade.
Oh yes, Mr McKinstry, the Chinese really do care about their population. All those little girls left to die in hospitals, they care for them too don't they ?

He goes even further when he writes
In China, the death penalty can be invoked against anyone carrying more than 50g of drugs - and that is one obvious reason why China, proportionally, has nothing like the drugs problem that we have in Britain.
Oh, so its nothing to do with the relative poverty of China then ? Nothing to do with China doctoring figures and statistics so as to leave the impression that their one party dictatorship actually does care ?

So nice to know that when it comes to dictatorships, one newspaper can be guaranteed to believe every figure, statistic and piece of propaganda that comes from their propaganda ministry. We shouldn't be surprised of course. it was the Daily Mail that similarly swallowed Hitler's lies up to 1939, so the paper does have good form.

It does make me wonder though what the Daily Mail would have said had Mr Akmal Shaikh been called Adrian Smith, been white, not been muslim and lived in Tunbridge Wells.

I think we know the answer to this don't we.

The fact that the Daily Mail can seemingly support the putting to death of a man with delusional mental health problems ought to to shock us all. But to read what Mr McKinstry has written he ought to show a little bit more gratitude that he lives in a country where spouting bilious hate fuelled rubbish gets you no more than the wrath of a minor political blogger. If Mr McKinstrys lived in China, my opinion of his delusional mental problems would not save him from the from a fate many Chinese face very day. That of summary execution, torture, forced labour or death.

Be careful who you make friends with Africa

In the wake of the failure to get any sort of agreement in Copenhagen, African countries are reportedly very angry that no legally binding treaty has been agreed. It appears also that China was the main culprit in preventing a real deal being made.

So isn't it odd that African nations, who have readily accepted Chinese grants for building stadiums and "showpiece" buildings in return for access to the natural resources these countries have, are moaning.

If they are so very angry, we can assume that these African nations will sever their links with China ? Of course not. Africa is angry because they expected more. But will a one party dicatorship who murder thousand of their own population each year ever give a damn about anyone other than themselves ? Of course not.

Africa should be careful where they make friends.

Strange bed fellows

It appears the Global Warming deniers may get want they want and the Copenhagen summit might produce a fudged agreement that will do nothing to save the planet.

Strange that it should be the Chinese governmentment that is doing the global warming deniers a favour.

Strange bed fellows. It must be thrilling for them to know that the Chinese and the extreme right wing in this country have so much in common.

China's admission that they lied to the IOC

When China won the right to hold the Olympics, they heralded it as the event that would show China was becoming more tolerant, more open minded, more democratic and essentially less censored.

China that "unblocked" websites in the run up to the Olympics as evidential proof that their promises to the IOC were being kept.

However, less than five months later, the Chinese government are again blocking foreign websites for fear that they may report on the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen square massacre when thousands of Chinese students and protesters were machine gunned to death in a Nazi style killing orgy by the Chinese Army in 1990. Needless to say, the Chinese government want no details of this or the burning of the bodies being mentioned to their population.

So now we know that China's promise to the IOC was a hollow lie. Welcome to China. Land of the repressed.

There's a real smell of Nuremberg about the Olympic Opening Ceremony

I am sure it is not just me who feels that the Olympic opening ceremony looks like "The Triumph Of The Will", the infamous film of the 1934 Nazi Nuremberg Conference.

The scenes of children marching in lines, eulogising the flag and the party, everyone in the stadium organised to stand and applaud at the right times. Jack booted soldiers marching with a high kick step (like Basil Fawlty's famous impression of the German's in Fawlty Towers) as they carry the flag aloft, and most bizarre of all children standing with their right hand aloft in what appeared to be a sort of Nazi salute as the Chinese flag was raised.

I saw "The Triumph of The Will" at university when studying The Third Reich, and the similarities are chilling in that 75 years on a government still seeks to control, organise, co-ordinate and subjugate in this way.

I know that all opening ceremonies have a high degree of co-ordination, but this takes it to new highs. Aside from the Nazi salutes, goosestepping soldiers and the co-ordinated applause, perhaps the most odd was the way that children dressed in ethnic dress walked in with the Chinese flag, supposedly symbolising the different ethnic groups that made up China. For me, it just showed all the ethnic groups oppressed by the Chinese Communist Party who seek to stamp out ethnic ways and make everyone ethnic Chinese.

Who says that the Chinese Governemnt controls the news agenda in China ?

How dare people suggest that there is censorship and state control over all media in China and that the Chinese people are uneducated about what really happens in the world.

Anyone who had read the latest press release from the Chinese official news agency will see that the Chinese Government exercise no control over the media because it every single person in the world knows, as the Chinese claim, that the Dalai Lama is the enemy of human rights and not even Nancy Pelosi's children like her !

All hail the people's Republic for its munificent benevolence to the workers !!!

(Please note, I am being ironic)

Gutless Hypocritical Konnie Huq

Some people will do anything for publicity, some people will attend the opening of an envelope and some people like to speak about things like politics without really having an idea what they are talking about. A few rare people combine two of these faults, but it is rare to see someone who has, in my opinion, all three of these pathetic traits. Yet I believe Konnie Huq, TV presenter and Olympic Torch carrier, qualifies.

Firstly she apparently embarrassed the BBC a few months ago by speaking at an event that was seen by many as a political rally in support of Ken Livingstone. One might have expected that this would mean she would be more careful about speaking out on political issues, but no. This week, clearly worried about how she would look, she hinted at her displeasure at the Chinese regime and it was rumoured that she would not carry the Olympic Torch. However, she quickly denied this, seemingly so awe struck at the chance to be surrounded by sporting stars and important people, and despite claiming that carrying the torch "does not condone what China is doing", she shows that if hypocrisy was an Olympic sport, she would be in the British team.

In one interview last week she even hinted that she might wear a "Free Tibet", T-Shirt, which highlighted two other pieces of information about her. Either she is so stupid that she did not know that you have to wear an officical China 2008 tracksuit or she was deliberately telling porkies. Either way, it does her no credit.

If I had anxieties about China, but felt that it should not be used to ruin the Olympics, I would have kept my mouth shut in the first place, which is what Ms Huq should have done. As it is, as soon as she started spouting off about China and raised concerns, she should have been consistent with those comments she made to the media and withdrawn. The course she has taken is ludicrous and shows a real lack of knowledge.

It seems that for Konnie Huq that the chance to put on her CV that she carried the Olympic Torch was too much of a lure. I don't blame anyone for wanting to carry the torch so long as the but don't then lecture us all on politics afterwards. It is entirely legitimate for all those torch bearers to carry the torch today if they choose not to turn it in to a political issue. If you believe, probably correctly, that sport and politics shouldn't mix, as I heard Sir Steve Redgrave explaining on the radio whilst refusing to be drawn on the politics, then you are justified. But in my opinion Ms Huq showed a stunningly gutless way to espouse her views, wanting to have her cake and eat it. There may be some in Tibet who hope she chokes on it.

P.S. The anonymous troll who keeps sending stupid and abusive comments from the same IP address will not get their comments published. You know who you are.

Brown tells China "UK is For Sale"

Gordon Brown has shown the depths the economy faces in the UK by essentially raising a white flag to the Chinese and said "Come in and but UK plc".

The Chinese sovereign wealth fund, a $250bn investment fund set up by the Chinese, has encountered problem with some countries who are unwilling to see their companies bought, their famous brands taken over, and essentially taken away to China to be produced at a lower cost. However, Britain under Labour, now showing the economy is in a state, is desperate for foreign investment and it appears that if it means all our remaining famous brands going to Chinese State ownership, then it does not matter, so long as in the short term Britain gets a balance of payments boost from the Chinese Sovereign Wealth Fund.

"Where were was the prime minister when Britain when we were sold down the river to China," they will ask. "Holding the 'For Sale' board", will be the reply.

Google to create a "China friendly" version of Wikipedia

The Times today reveals that Google are to go head to head with Wikipedia to set up an online encyclopedia in the Wikipedia style.

Google's own version called "knowl" will though follow Google's usual rules of being one sided, sanitised and of course China friendly (so no writing about the killing of tens of thousands of students in Beijing).

If Google ran the world people like Robert Mugabe would just be so happy as the real world and real history would be ignored all in the interests of the mighty dollar.

What would we say if it were the Russian or Chinese police who acted like this ?

The most interesting and shocking fact to come out today regarding the shooting of jean Charles De Menezes has been the facts relating to the actual shooting and the varying and different accounts of what happened.

The two police gunmen said they shouted clear warnings to Jean Charles, they said he did not respond and he then approached the policemen, intimating this was a threatening gesture.

The problem is that all eighteen witnesses on the tube train said they heard no warning shouted at all and that Jean Charles remained seated, not approaching the policemen at all.

Now who are we to believe ? The two policemen, who with Sir Ian Blair's collaboration had five days to prepare an alibi whilst the Metropolitan police destroyed CCTV images and tapes whilst the Independent Police Complaints Commission were kept away or the eighteen independent witnesses who have no axe to grind.

If Sir Iain wanted to prosecute a case against two gunmen, and eighteen witnesses all said the gunmen were lying, he'd be furious if the law prevented him from gaining access to evidence and the truth but almost unbelievably, the police are allowed to get away with it.

If this was happening in Russia or China we'd say it is an example of the police being above the law, and if the Russian or Chinese government's did nothing we'd say it is a sign of their utterly corrupt systems. Yet when it happens in Britain, we are no better. Sir Ian Blair should go.

What does Russia's response to Burma tell us about Russia's democracy ?

If you were an alien just arrived on Earth who knew nothing of world politics, you might be able to divide the world by it;s political systems very easily by examining each country's response to the situation in Burma.

The EU, the USA, indeed virtually every democratic society in the world has spoken out against the undemocratic and brutal military regime in Burma.

On the other side. standing as opponents to the protests are China, of course, the puppeteers in chief to Burma's regime, and with them Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe, a country that cares little for democracy or the rule of law.

So what ought it to tell us that with Zimbabwe and China stands Russia ?

Zimbabwe and China have a history, a very recent history, of butchering thousands of its own citizens, in China's case literally tens of thousands in Tianamen Square (and then spent several weeks burning the bodies). They both refuse to accept democratic reforms. Both nations have ruling elites who are grossly corrupt, incredibly rich and show a complete contempt for the law. yet Russia stands side by side with these countries.

Whilst Russia may not have butchered its own citizens for protesting (yet), surely Russia shows all the other signs of becoming a repressive one party state of a country. I always say you can judge a person by the company they keep. Russia's company tells us all we need to know.

Made in China

When I was a child if something broke someone always used to say "it was probably made in Taiwan or Hong Kong". Now these two territories are synonymous with high end electronics, and high build quality and, it appears, that China has taken over the mantle of cheap and nasty.

In the last 36 hours we have seen news that Chinese made batteries are overheating in Nokia phones, poisonous paint has been used on Mattel toys and now parts fall off Asda products.

Perhaps it is all part of China's sinister plot to take over the world. They mean to burn us, choke us and poisonous by stealth.

Welcome to China - A crime free state. Apparently

The Chinese Communist Party has declared Jackie Chan's new film "Rush Hour 3" to be un Chinese because it features Chinese people as members of triad gangster groups.

In the same vein the Chinese ordered cuts to be made to Pirates of the Caribbean 3 because it featured a Chinese pirate.

If the Chinese have a view that all Chinese people are law abiding and never break the law, why do the Chinese need a police force at all ?

It is a sign of an immature state that they don't believe that out of 1 billion people, they have no criminals at all.

Are we really to believe that the "Big Brother" authorities knew nothing of this ?

If you live in a country where the media is controlled, where the Internet is censored, where dissent is crushed brutally, where the walls have ears and where your freedoms are so constrained that your every action can be reported on, you have to ask serious questions about how your government can allow several thousand boys be taken and held as slaves and not know anything about it.
