The Green Party today launched its Euro manifesto. Yes, I know it is more than six months until the Euro elections. Yes, I know that launching your manifesto this early seems ludicrous, but then again I am not in the Green Party.
Apparently their manifesto includes such items as investing in renewable energy (yes, I know that energy is an area under the control of national governments, not the EU) and a promise to insulate all home (yes, I know this too is an area not within the remit of the EU).
Now I am not suggesting the Green's have not got a clue but ...

Well hold on - Europe does have a remit over renewable energy and home insulation. In fact it has quite a big say over agreed targets for combatting climate change and how countries are going to meet those targets.
For instance next month there will be a major vote on those targets where, I assume, members of your party in the European Parliament will be voting for tougher action on climate change including upping the proportion of renewable energy countries like the UK produce as part of their national output. Who knows, perhaps they'll abstain.
I mean I'm not suggesting you don't know what you're talking about but...
If you hadn't mentioned it, I would never have known it had even been released. I checked all the newspaper websites this morning and couldn't see any evidence of it.
But energy policy is a Westminster responsibility. The EU sets targets, national government sign up to them. MEP's themselves have no control over countries energy policies.
