I'm getting a new car and it is a Skoda.
I am of that age group that grew up with Skoda jokes and I never thought in a million years I'd own one, but I've been seduced by the new Fabia and those wonderful adverts.
To be honest, when I drove it, it was a lovely car, loads of features, handles well and projected resale values are excellent, so I can't go wrong and, with a baby on the way, it is a five door car.
The funny thing is though that the children I teach now, 12 year olds, have no idea that Skoda was the laughing stock joke of a car manufacturer. As far as they are concerned Skodas are cool, and the current advertising campaign only confirms that even more. One boy also told me that he could drive a Skoda rally car on his Playstation and that it is great, so it shows how perceptions can quickly change.
And to think my last car was a two seater Fiat Barchetta !
