Which Tory MP is using the same photo that he used 5 years ago ?

Anyone notice the similarlity in the pictures on these leaflets from 2005 and 2010 ?
This is the 2005 election leaflet from Keith Simpson

And this is the 2010 version.

Isn't it a little bit vain or even silly to be using a photo which is so obviously out of date ?

Surely there must be more recent photos of him in the constituency?

no?

oh well maybe none of the Tories has a camera...

And (as he was/is my MP) he didn't look that young in 2005 either!

No activity here in rural mid Norfolk, other than a few Con boards in fields (but fewer than last time) - I suspect mid Norfolk is in the "nowhere near a marginal" category, although with the LD surge who knows....

Having met Mr Simpson five weeks ago, he looked bigger (larger, wider) and much greyer.

He really does look like that still.

However the picture in his attic shows an old grey haggered individual.

Oh dear Johnny Norfolk. What a silly and utterly hollow excuse. He used the same photo, not the same leaflet. New leaflet, same old photo. Do you get it ?

How does that save re-printing ?

What a fool you make yourself look.

What a great advert for "change" - same old photo, same old Tories

*shrug* Our local (Lib Dem) MP uses a variety of photos on the literature, but there's one quite good headshot of him that we've use time and time again since he was first elected in 2001. Doesn't really matter - it's not like he's lost too much hair or aged dramatically, it's still quite recognisable as him.

Ah yes, but you misunderstand.

It's only a crime if the Tories do it.

If the LibDems do it, its a frugal harvesting of scarce resources.

My Mum used to say the same about David Morrish, a continuation Liberal (not Lib Dem) councillor down in Exeter. He was a very long-standing local notable and indeed had run the County Council as early as the 1970s.

Every election and whenever he was in the local press, she would complain about, "that vain old bastard using precisely the same picture he was using 25/30 years ago".

Anyway, a few years ago she took a job as a secretary at the Council. She met him in person and came home with her tail between her legs. Turned out he had updated his 'photo regularly - he was just one of those lucky types who never age.

Perhaps Simpson is one of them? By the look of him, I'm not sure he's changed since the 1930s to be honest.

I presume Clegg doesn't do any 'work' on his image then?

Anyway, who gives a shit what he looks like. I want to vote with him not sleep with him

More dumbing down.

Another touchy Tory. Come on, the whole Cameron approach for the last three years has been about image over substance. "Change", but no real change at all other than a different set of faces on the green benches giving the same old rubbish as the previous lot.

The fact is that if Mr Simpson cannot be bothered to get a new photo, it does make me wonder why people should bother to vote for him. It would have taken minutes to get a new photo done unless it is all vanity ?

As ever with the Lib Dems, details and facts matter little. Keith's full election leaflet-delivered to households in the last couple of weeks- contains many recent pictures with him out and about in the Broadland Constituency.

Shame that Daniel Roper doesnt produce one of him with pictures from a few years ago with Ian Gibson wearing his Labour rosette, then voters would know what they'd be getting, eh?

I don't think Dan Roper has made any secret of the fact that he was in another political party in the past. Lots of people, including Tories, voted for Ian Gibson.

Are you saying that you don't want former Labour supporters to vote Conservative ? It's a very odd way to campaign if you are relying on your core vote and not looking to reach out to other people of other political persuasions.

I note that two Tory councillors on Broadland Council were former Lib Dems. Do they advertise this in their leaflets ? No ? Thought not.
