The sad irony

Today, in Scotland, the Dunfermline Building Society, Scotland's biggest such society, was taken in to government control after effectively going bankrupt.

This is sad news for the employees who may lose their jobs but it says something about Gordon Brown, doesn't it, that his constituency includes parts of Dunfermline ?

Nich since 2005 Gordon has not represented and part of Dunfermline itself in the new Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath constituency. Of course many of his constituents are nonetheless employed by the Dunfermline Building Society. His old constituency was of course Dunfermline East for the previous 22 years he was their MP.

Gordon is himself, of course, a constituent of Willie Rennie, Lib Dem MP for Dunfermline, who has been campaigning vigorously to save the Dunfermline Building Society.

Well well well, Gordon steps in to save a Scottish bank that has no worth to the British economy as a whole. What a surprise.
