Why do people leave football matches 10 minutes early ?

With the start of the new football season you are suddenly reminded of all the things that annoy you about the people who sit near you at Carrow Road.

There is the loudmouth who swears constantly two rows in front of me, there is the idiot in front of me who constantly says "How can that be offside" when he clearly does not have any understanding of the offside rule, whilst the idiot who sits behind me who repeatedly says to his mate "Why don't they kick the ball out of play rather than passing it back to the keeper", shows just how dim some football fans are. But the ones that really really annoy me are those who leave the ground ten minutes early every game.

We know why they do this, its so they can get to their car early and get home earlier, but you have to ask what is the point of paying £360 a year for a season ticket if you are going to waste £40 of it by only watching 88% of every match, and that excludes the 4 minutes of extra time you get in most games.

If these people are so desperate to get home early for every game, it makes you wonder why they don't just go the whole hog and stay at home, save themselves £360 and they can be guaranteed to be home for their tea on time.

Nich, surely the real question is Why does anyone pay £360 to watch Norwich?

BTW, I was is Norwich on Friday, interviewing surveyors. Beautiful city, but the one way system is hellish....

Surely the sentence that started "but you have to ask what is the point of paying £360 a year for a season ticket..." should have ended "just to watch Norwich" :-)

It should be noted that Norwich have a waiting list for season tickets and have 20,000 season ticket holders even though they were nearly relegated to League 1 last year.

Paul - I agree about the roads. You do have to know them in order to get anywhere.

Hilarious, two of us said the same :-)
I am at Portman Road next weekend to see Ipswich v Wolves.

You would have thought eveyone had learned their lesson after leaving the Middlesborough match. "Fans" were leaving when we were playing pitifully at 0-4 down with 25 minutes to go. And of course we were always going to come back....

Dan, it was 4-1 (I seem to think we took the lead), but I take your point AND I stayed till the end.

I actually ate at Delia's that night and all the staff were buzzing about the match.

Sounds like you would be better off saving the cost of a season ticket and staying at home - no more obnoxious fans round you spoiling your enjoyment - and think of how many cans you could get in with the money you saved.
