I was speaking to a friend yesterday who spent some time in the company of some Norwich Green activists over the previous days. My friend is thinking of getting married abroad and received a broadside from them about his suggestion that he might get married abroad. Her argument was, of course, that this would leave a high carbon footprint.
It's strange though to think that this Green activist has lived and worked in Russia, South America, indeed there is hardly a corner of the world that this Green has not travelled too. Indeed if we were counting carbon footprints, I'd find it hard to emulate this particular Green if I travelled abroad for my holidays for the rest of my life. But still they seek to restrict how we live our lives.
Of course, she's not alone. A delve in to the history of any number of Green's in Norwich shows a taste for foreign travel on a scale that many of us can only dream of.
Greens and hypocrisy .., goes together like Tories and sleaze of Labour and incompetence.
I'll await the response from everyone for what Lib Dems goes with.

Theoretically, they could get out of this by saying something along the lines of:
"Yes, my carbon footprint is higher than average. But by setting the agenda, I am forcing people & governments to act, therefore my net effect on the environment is positive. In order for me to do my work properly I need to travel, so if I stayed at home I wouldn't be able to engage in my activism". Just like those flying celebs & people like Camoron.
It does sound a bit bollocks, but they could try it.
Have a look on the Guardian comment site where the authoritarianism of the Greens is well described by Brendan O' Neill. As far as I am concerned while Lib Dems and the Greens share a common objective, to an extent at least, it is on the means to achieve the objective that the difference lies - consent and persuasion as opposed to the Greens' we know best what is good for you and we wish to impose it.
As a friend of mine likes to say. If the Lib Dems are the answer, what was the question?
Ergo - Lib Dems go together with pointlessness.
