Hats off to Iain Dale

Iain Dale is often criticised for being partisan and sometimes a little too close to politicians to be able to criticise them objectively. This was levelled at Iain when the Derek Conway business was at its height. However, you have to take your hat off to Iain Dale today for daring to criticise his friend and political ally Ann Widdecombe.

Admittedly she is voting against the Tories, and as such Iain could be said to be putting party before friendship, but his arguments are balanced and reasoned and he avoids unnecessary abuse. Well done Iain.

Would he criticise it if it was official Tory policy? Where was he when the Lib Dems were fighting Howard's authoritarian, Daily Hell-inspired shit: nowhere to be seen or nowhere to be seen?
