Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk, is using the Freedom of Information Act to request a full copy and breakdown of the score ranking system the Post Office used when deciding to close a number of Post Offices in his North Norfolk constituency.
It might be a good idea for all MPs to do this given the rather arbitrary nature of some closures of Post Offices that are well used and don't seem to qualify for closure. it should make interesting reading.

Hi Nich,
We had a meeting with Sue Huggins
(Director of PO Network change) and various other senior PO management in London whilst fighting our own branch closure. During this meeting, they admitted that they had tried to use several models to select branches for closure but ended up doing a slightly more technical equaivalent to sticking pins in a map! It will therefore be very interesting to see what Norman Lamb manages to wrestle from them!
We formed CAPOC (Communities against Post Office Closures) because we could plainly see that single protest groups had little or no chance of saving their branches .
Good old Norman. I doubt that it will change the outcome, but it will go some way to prove that the outcome has been pre-judged.
Nich.
Please let us know how many Post Offices he saves from closure.
Please let us all know what you have ever done to help anyone.
Its taken over 18 months to get part way through the closeure plan. It is highly likely the full list [ which never existed, no, no way , uhh uhh. there never ever was was one.fingers crossed behind our backs] could have been posted on line on day 1.
Its this fake consultation nonsense that further angers people almost as much as the actual closeures.
6 weeks alowed to prepare your appeal which will not change anything.
POL, Royal Mail the Unions and The government all agreed to a closure program 2 years ago.
"And we would have got away with it too, if it hadn't been for the meddling public and genuine local MPs" said a government spokesperson.
Absolubtely typical of NuLabour.
"We're listening to you, as long as you agree with us"
no doubt he was inspired with the leader of norfolk county council .... http://new.edp24.co.uk/search/story.aspx?brand=EDPOnline&category=News&itemid=NOED23%20Apr%202008%2021:03:28:740&tBrand=EDPOnline&tCategory=search
He's now made a complaint to the information commissioner
J Norfolk falls in to that category ofpeople who complain about things but offer no solutions and bemoan those who try to expose the government he claims to despise.
I think someone else put it well here before when they sais he gives all Tories a bad name.
At least I dont hide behind an anonymous tag. You are just a sneaky person.
Ask me a question and I will give you an answer but it will not include insults.
Do you think Clegg can in any way stop post office closures.

You really ought not lecture anyone about this when you are yourself anonymous.
