Even Wogan's fed up with the voting and may quit and he has joined several million viewers who have dumped watching an evening of rubbish for another evening of rubbish and now watch ITV instead.
It was interesting that the BBC the other day asked one person from each of the 43 countries to vote for the song they liked best, and I must stress here the key word was "song". In this BBC vote Sweden were clear winners, yet when it comes to the night itself Sweden were closer to the bottom than the top. What does this tell us ? Clearly the Scandinavian voting block no longer wields the power. Towards the end of the voting (I only watch the voting), my wife was slightly perplexed how I know who was getting 8, 10 or 12 points before it was announced. Simple answer, i know which countries are neighbours to each other.
What an utter waste of license fee payers money, and lets be clear about it, the BBC spends a fortune on Eurovision.
P.S. And no, this is not sour grapes by me. I am not a fan of the UK's entry and even i the BBC poll it came 33rd out of 43.

There are so many Russians living abroad, that Russia always has a secured place in the Final. With even more of their former dependencies participating, it might be that from now on, they will win all the Eurovision song contest, no matter what kind of performance they send to represent themselves.
P.S: Don't think that countries next door to Russia usually love their neighbours and former opprerssors. After the Soviet occupation they just have large Russian minorities voting uniformly for Russia, whereas the votes of the indigeneous population split. After the fall of Soviet Union the Russian immigrants have spread in large numbers in even more neighbouring countries, like Finland and Sweden.
Immigration also affects other countries, that's why Germany and the Netherland usually give high points for Turkey, and UK and Ireland for Poland.
I think we could easily have written each other's posts on this subject Nich. As I wrote on my blog, it is time to draw a line in the Eurovision quicksand.
We better be careful about all these things we agree on Nich, people might start to talk!

Russian neighbours don't love Russia, they're scared of them and have large Russian populations as well. The bear is a bully, plain and simple. The UK entry wasn't very good, but Russia's was complete rubbish. Eurovision is a political contest and a joke.
The Eurovision Song Contest is light entertainment, pure and simple. Anyone who takes it seriously really needs to get out more.
The point is that it is no longer light entertainment. Light entertainment is something like The X Factor or I'd Do Anything where people vote for the best acts, not where they are from.
Light entertainment should not be political, and as we can see Eurovision is now all about politics, not entertainment.
Sorry didn't the last X-Factor final try to get people to vote on the person who lived in the same country as them?

Paul, I'm with Nich on this. Why should the BBC spend money so that we can watch every other country giving us a kicking year after year?
Tripe like this should be on a minority subscription channel...
