After the government have announced that they lost the records of 25 million people in the UK after CD's containing personal information about child benefits for the whole country were lost in transit, it really does make you ask how on earth the government can be trusted with the ID card information they want.
ID cards have been pushed as a way of being more secure and safe from terrorists. However, the information the government has on us at the moment is not secure (as today proves) and you have to ask whatever sort of problems would we face if the government lost the ID card information which would include every bit of information a fraudster or a terrorist would ever need.
Today's news is shocking, but should hopefully bury any arguments about the trust we can place in governments to introduce ID cards. They can't be trusted. Full stop.
