Warning - The Tories almost had a policy for one moment !

I couldn't believe it yesterday when I heard via Fivelive that the Conservative Party had one of its policy groups report back, and they had made proposals !

Wow, at last, some real policies from David Cameron !

Well, no. Then they were withdrawn from the Conservative Party website almost as soon as they appeared. But today, they were again published but immediately rubbished by Cameron's team. So it begs the question again, what do the New Tories stand for ?

Their policy proposals on tax sounded somthing like what the Lib Dems were proposing a few weeks ago (lowering income tax, more environmental taxes), but what Cameron and Osborne have been saying is "We don't actually agree or disagree with the proposals". Sitting on the fence ? Unable to make clear decisions ? I thought that was the old view of the Lib Dems, not the bright shiny New Tory party !

When Cameron was first elected, he asked for time to prepare policies. He's had 12 months now and when one of his own policy groups comes up with a policies he won't endorse it. How much time does he need ?

Nich, it wasn't one of his policy groups. It was set up by Michael Howard.

Thanks Dizzy. Still, I think it is odd for Cameron to disassociate himself from their recommendations which were, to my mind, not that odd !
