Growth in wind power - Do planning rules help ?

The Eastern Daily Press reports today on the growth of interest in people having wind turbines attached to their homes.

The Eastern counties, particularly Norfolk are perhaps the best suited areas for wind turbines in the whole of the UK, and it is pleasing to see that people are waking up to the problem of global warming. However, it is clear that planning laws have yet to catch up with micro-generation and people's willingness to be more environmentally friendly.

Planning rules need to be updated, and quickly. The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister are always sending out PPG notes on cramming more and more houses on to sites, so perhaps they could also get their act together so that planning rules are made easier for people who want to put the environment first.

As more people get wind turbines and solar panels, so the price will come down and more and more people will be able to afford to follow suit. Let's try and make it easier for them.
