"Exaggerate Crime for quick response" says Tory Councillor to Wells Town Council

People criticise politicians for lying all the time, even when they don't. So it is frustrating when a local Tory Councillor actually urges people to tell fibs.

The EDP reports on the story today http://new.edp24.co.uk/content/news/story.aspx?brand=EDPOnline&category=News&tBrand=edponline&tCategory=news&itemid=NOED04%20Oct%202006%2007%3A55%3A45%3A077 , and BBC Look East tore itself away from reporting on the top 10 things about Milton Keynes or Braintree for long enough to report it aswell.

Putting the issue aside, which when we are talking about Police and crime, is always an important and sensative one, surely a member of the Police Authority should know better ? After all, isn't it the Police Authority that sets the police budget and their priorities.

If the people of Wells are getting poorly served by the Police, and I believe the police do the best job they can given their resources, then it is surely the job of police authority members to explain why it is so bad and what they will do to rectify it, not encourage people to exaggerate !
