What a refreshing change the new leadership in South Africa is bringing to the crisis in Zimbabwe. Gone is the apologist tones of Thabo Mbeki who could see no wrong in the wanton destruction of Zimbabwe by his friend Mugabe, and in comes a harsher more forthright condemnation of Mugabe by Jacob Zuma, a man we were led to believe was a Marxist with sympathies for nationalists like Mugabe.
Sadly though, too much time has been wasted in Zimbabwe and Thabo Mbeki's greatest achievement as leader of South Africa will go down as allowing a wealthy nation fall apart and starve whilst he sat back and watched.
