The death of Frank McGaraham in Norwich few weeks ago made all the national headlines, and I wrote shortly afterwards about the fact that the justice system does not seem to help prevent these sorts of crimes.
For anyone who doubts that this is the case take the case of Mr McGarahan's relative who was assaulted in separate incident that same night, and the fact that the person who assaulted him for no reason has been effectively let off with no more than a slap on the wrist. What ever sort of deterrent is a £100 fine ?
What a pathetic justice system we have.
