What a joke the United Nations is

Apparently, the UN has issued a report which is critical of the UK in a number of areas.

A Sri Lankan questioned whether we should be a monarchy, Syria accuses us of being discriminatory, whilst rather hilariously Iran wanted to know why we were not doing more about sexual discrimination. This from a country that still persecutes homosexuals !

The United Nations, it appears, allows despots and tyrants to lecture democracies about things that these dictatorships don't even do in their own countries.

How about Syria stopping supporting terrorism in Lebanon ? How about Iran stopping their support for Hezbollah and also paying militias to kill and attack British troops in Iraq ? How about Sri Lanka ending their civil war by negotiation ?

What a joke organisation the UN is.

Update : David Farrar (Kiwiblog) links to this story and goes in to more detail HERE.

The report also criticised the UK on our treatment to Sudanese immigrants. That's quite a serious issue the UN uncovered.
On the Monarchy one, there actually addressing the idea that we should hold a referendum on the issue. That issue I think would fail concidering 70% support the Monarchy, but I think we should start a 'national debate' on the subject of monarchy and republicism.
So it's not that the UN is a joke. However Syria and Iran are.

Seems no one likes to be told what to do, regardless of who or what they are.

Wouldn't it be nice if every nation just sorted their own problems without forming democracies, dictatorships, UN bodies or any other form of enforced existence.

When someone finds the method that makes everyone concern themselves with their own issues, please send me the recipe. I will remember you when you recieve your nobel prize, which of course will no longer exist, because it will be widely accepted that another man's recognition of your work is worthless.
