What is it about Jamie Oliver that winds me up so much ?

My wife has been watching Jamie Oliver this evening whilst I mark books, but despite my concentration being mostly on my books, I cannot help myself from shouting out expletives at Jamie Oliver every so often.

His annoying obsession with referring to "herbs" as "herbage" makes me wonder if he also has "shittage" when he goes to the toilet and "sleepage" when he goes to bed each night, no doubt pre-empted by "shaggage". Whilst his obsession with saying "look at that little baby" or "turn that baby over" makes me what to shout "it's a lamb chop for Christ's sake, not a bloody baby". I guess I should be grateful he has not used the term "pukka" all evening.

Perhaps my dislike for him is not simply about him. I get annoyed by him speaking about Stansted expansion plans. Right or wrong, and he well may have a valid point about some of the issues, but people who live near airports have to expect aircraft noise and people who choose to move near Stansted should have known about plans for expansion, after all, it has been talked about for about 20 years.

To be honest, if I were transport minister I'd get the new airport runway built just to teach him a lesson. Oh, and that would be "runway-age" Jamie.

The world would be a much happier place... if we put him in a taxi with Yoko Ono... and drove it off a cliff.

More of a Delia man are you?

And the way he sneers at vegetarianism, sounding almost Clarkson-esque sometimes. What a tit.

Setting your views on Jamie Oliver aside, an awful lot of Essex people have lived near Stansted from time immemorial and have no wish to see their lives ruined by another runway. Many were involved in the original campaign to stop the crime of Stansted in the 1960's. There is an unhealthy addiction in government and the metropolitan elite to dump airports and anything unpleasant to the east of London because it matters less than other parts of the south east. A lot of Essex people are p***ed off with it.

Having heard tales of how Oliver 'the man' conducts his business affairs, he appears to be as odious off screen as on screen.

Agree with you totally, Can;t stand him. He bangs on about Stansted because his parents own a pub near iot. I used to frequent it in my delinquent days.

I guess you think it is good that ancient monuments and ancient woodland will be destroyed by the Stansted expansion? There is not the infrastructure in place to allow expansion. Listed buildings, villages and communities will be destroyed by expansion. Get real. Think this through before you spout off unitelligent nonsense. Jamie Oliver has done more for the world than you ever will.

Generally agree, and much prefer Brian Turner... a good, down-to-earth Yorkshireman.

However, nothing wrong with sneering at vegetarianism. The sanctimonius, holy-than-thou, science-twisting veggies deserve a good sneering at.

Have to agree... the only exercise those 30 stone single mothers get is lobbing the kids daily fish & chip ration, over the school wall... who else but Jamie could have achieved that? It'll probably end up an Olympic sport for London 2012.
