How dim is the Daily Mirror ?

The story about The Daily Mirror trying to infiltrate CCHQ on Iain Dale's blog is slightly disturbing, but also highlights an incompetence in the Mirror which leaves you questioning whether the Mirror can be trusted on any issue.

I am sure the Mirror thought this was a great wheeze, but choosing a journalist whose name was already known, and putting an e-mail address on the application form that could be traced to the Mirror is so dim as to make you think the Mirror wanted to be caught.

The bigger issue is whether The Mirror can be trusted on anything at all ? I personally I like the "balance" the Mirror gives to the news stand. We have the rabidly right wing Daily Mail, which is a sock puppet for the Tory party, prints their press releases without any edits, and never offers any balance, and I have always felt the Mirror offers a counterweight to this, which is needed. However, the sort of operation Iain Dale highlights has let the paper down big time, has potentially destroyed its credibility and will do no favours to Labour either as the credibility of the political reporting in the biggest supporting labour paper is in tatters.

I don't think they have any credibility as it is. Piers Morgan destroyed what credibility they had.

What I find disturbing is that the papers have already decided which political party they will support even though an election might be years away. It just shows that the media will never be impartial.

I think that Robert Maxwell should be made to walk the plank...
