A four pence cut in income to to be offset by increases for polluters is a winner all round in my books and congratulations must go to Vince Cable and his team for coming up with this policy.
It is hard to argue against tax cuts in any situation when they are going to be replaced by raising taxes on polluters. Few people would dream of standing up for the rights of polluters (it's like arguing that Hitler wasn't such a bad guy), so it is just the sort of policy that can be explained easily on a Focus leaflet and is very difficult for the opposition to attack.
Let's hope this message is being drummed home in Ealing and Sedgefield.
