Lib Dems uncover DEFRA spending £170m on consultants
The Lib Dems have discovered that DEFRA (the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), has spent £170 million on consultants whilst at the same time cutting £200 million from their budget this year.
This means that £170 that could have been spent on environmental matters (aren't Labour supposed to be doing more to protect the environment ?) has instead been squandered.
The BBC story also makes the point that the Tories have already highlighted that £172 million has similarly squandered on NHS management consultants.
"Billions spent on a pointless war in Iraq and £340 million on consultants" - A new tagline for New Labour ?
