I've just spent the weekend in Blackpool (that's why my blog has seen few posts from me on its busiest weekend ever - gutted !), and was amazed to see the changes going on to the promenade. Some £62 million is being spent on new flood protection whilst also turning the straight promenade in to a more curved prettier prom. However, it begs the question, where is the money North Norfolk needs ?
Is this another case of Labour looking after its own ? I wouldn't argue that Blackpool doesn't need the cash, it does, and a beautiful looking promenade they will have when it's finished. But North Norfolk desperately needs just a fraction of the £62million awarded to Blackpool to defend the coastline around Happisburgh, and if the water gets much beyond Happisburgh, many more communities will be in peril.
Last week I wrote on this blog about TheTimes story suggesting that Labour was doing more to protect health services in Labour constituencies. Are they also protecting the coast better in Labour constituencies also ?

No, I just think you're reading too much in to it. The money has probobly been given because it will benefit Blackpool greatly. Tourism is flagging and the town is in desperate need of rejuvination. Other projects such as the new Debenams center will also make Blackpool a muh micer place to visit.
I don't doubt that Blackpool deserves the money. The point is that just one tenth of that £62m would be enough to protect the North Norfolk coast.
